CONGRATULATIONS! You’ve made the first step to discovering the world of Oasis™. After using the Oasis Demonstration Package, we hope you’ll be as excited as we are about Oasis. The Demonstration Version software should give you a feel for how Oasis works and show you how easy and fun it is to use. We’ve even included some images with which you can experiment!
Oasis is a new image-creation and videographics software package for the Macintosh that can revolutionize the way you produce illustrations, graphics and video. Oasis provides a number of brushes which can be separately adjusted in size, density, wetness and dry-out speed. By using different combinations of these attributes, you can create effects which simulate any traditional art medium or you can invent original effects that exist in no other environment.
Images can be created using either a mouse or a digitizing tablet and stylus, or imported through video cameras or scanners. When you are finished, your Oasis images can be output to print, slides or videotape.
Although Oasis can be used effectively without a pressure-sensitive stylus and tablet, a full range of expressiveness in brushstrokes can not be achieved without one. This relatively inexpensive device can really make a world of difference in producing great artwork with the Macintosh and we highly recommend its purchase and use. Working without one is like working with a brush that has lost its suppleness.
Be sure to use the descriptive material in the Read Me file as a guide while you explore Oasis. This material is a useful reference that will help you get started quickly with Oasis. The first three sections, “The Tool Palette,” “The Color Palette” and “The Menus,” are a feature-by-feature description and a valuable reference. The last section, “Tools & Techniques,” describes various settings that can be used with Oasis tools to mimic traditional media and do other special effects. If you read nothing else, READ TOOLS & TECHNIQUES!

INSTALLING AND STARTING OASIS
To install Oasis, drag all files from the program diskettes onto your hard disk. To start Oasis, double click on the Oasis application icon or on an Oasis document icon.
